While some believe that accepting a bad situation is the best they can do, others prefer to take action to improve it. This essay will discuss both views and give reasons as to why I agree with the latter.
On the one hand, not being willing to progress would stem from lack of courage to take risks which is an action practiced by some. For example, for an employee, who is responsible for two children, it would be dreadful to quit his job and run his own business to make more money. This is because he is going to step outside his comfort zone and face unfamiliar situations which might make his living condition even worse. Thus, for such people, staying where they are or trying to improve is a situation between the devil and the deep blue sea in which the former is more preferable because they are familiar with it.
But overall, the riskier the merrier. Only those who are willing to face new challenges deserve to have a better life. That is why some, particularly the younger generation who may not have many responsibilities, including me, are likely to take risks. On a large scale, society as a whole will benefit from this attitude as well. Nelson Mandela is a good example for this who as an individual tried to improve his condition in prison every day for about 28 years and the impact not only released him from the prison but what he did left such an everlasting imprint on at least the African community that it cannot be washed away.
In conclusion, fear of losing what you already have might be a hindrance to making an effort to have a better life; however, there is no way out of being a risk taker to thrive which could be a trait the young possess more.

Some people say that the main environmental problem of our time is the loss of particular species of plants and animals. Others say that there are more important environmental problems.
Discuss both these views and give your own opinion.

It is undoubtedly true that the environment is under intense pressure. Some people consider the loss of individual species of plants and animals the major environmental problem, whilst others argue that there are more important issues regarding the environment.
Extinction of flora and fauna is an issue because the ecosystem balance may be disrupted. There needs to be a predator and prey relationship in order to maintain balance in an ecosystem. When a particular animal or plant becomes extinct, the whole food chain will be impacted. In spite of the efforts made by many scientists and environmentalists to protect certain species through conservation programs and captive breeding, it is a pity to see them still dying out. This seems as though their efforts are producing diminishing returns, which means the problem roots into other more prominent factors.
Global warming is a serious threat to the environment. Increasing sea levels, extreme weather conditions such as drought or flood are the outcomes which have destroyed the habitats of many living things. Many coastal residents have been forced to evacuate their homes and have moved away from the coastal lines. If this continues, people along with animals and plants will have problem in catering their food because of their diminished habitats and consequently shortage of food, and, in the long term, the planet Earth might not be livable anymore.
Another concern is urbanization which has the same results. Towns, streets, railways, and factories have been built where there was once countryside which result in habitat fragmentation affecting different species’ lives by separating them from the environment in which they could easily access food and hide from predation.
In conclusion, I believe climate change and urbanization are two underlying threats that predominantly damage the environment, which act as a domino effect and end in losing certain species too.

Some people say that music is a good way of bringing people of different cultures and ages together.
To what extent do you agree or disagree with this opinion.

Some people believe that a good approach to gathering different cultures and ages together is through music. I do agree with this statement because music is an international language which is comprehensible by people all around the world.
Music plays an essential role in tying different cultures. The reason is that it has some unique and magical elements which touch people’s hearts or lift their spirits and act as a law of attraction. For example, when Yanni, the internationally renowned composer and musician, holds a concert in a country, thousands of people from different parts of the world, who are culturally diverse, rush into this event craving for his compositions. Who knows what happens in such performances? Fans make friends, some find their partners, some unknown musicians might find a job revolutionizing their career or sometimes we see in a concert that the musicians performing are from widely different areas in the world.
Everyone regardless of their age is attracted to music. Generation gap and misunderstanding are the problems associated with age differences. This might stem from the way a grandchild communicates with their grandparents for instance. However, when it comes to music, it seems as though this gap is filled and people regardless of their age do understand each other better, and a single track can convey a message to the listener in a way that nothing else is capable of doing so. It is amazing when we see a singer has been singing for three or four living generations all next to each other in a concert carried away.
Some may argue that music does not bring people together because many songs have lyrics that communicate with the listeners and if someone does not understand the lyrics in that language, they are not attracted to it. However, there are many examples that people with different beliefs and ages buy albums of instrumental music making that album the top selling one in the world.
In conclusion, although some may believe that music alone cannot bring people together and understanding the lyrics is also important, I completely agree that music does magic with its own mesmerizing components bringing people with variety of cultures and ages together.

Many people opt for having their own business rather than being an employee these days. This essay will attempt to explain the main reasons for this tendency and discuss the major drawbacks to entrepreneurship.
The main reason lies with the willingness to be affluent. It is undeniable that majority of people love to be wealthy enough to live a life without worrying about the costs of living. They enjoy living in a large modern house, having unique holidays during a year and creating a promising future not only for themselves but also for their children. Another advantage to owning your business is freedom in choosing when to work. A business owner can work at nights for example or can go on a holiday whenever he wishes and does not need to take days off from his boss. On the other hand, an employee does not enjoy such benefits meaning that he has to make ends meet with a fixed amount of salary, there is no flexibility in working hours, and leave days are limited annually.
However, there are drawbacks in running your own business too. One of them is the burden of responsibilities a company owner, particularly if his business is small, has to deal with such as recruiting productive conscientious staff, providing the necessary materials and equipment, and dealing with the tax collector which are all stressful indeed. Another significant downside is that entrepreneurship would be risky especially for an unskillful person. Providing a business owner makes a mistake, sign a bad contract for instance, he will probably go bankrupt and may even end up in prison. Finally, surviving in today’s competitive market is a real hassle that not everyone is able to manage particularly if your product is not a unique one and has to compete with giant companies’ products reigning the world market.
In conclusion, while it is obvious that many people tend to establish their own company because of the freedom it provides, we cannot turn a blind eye to its challenges and risks.
